Useful tips to help you try and fall pregnant

Timing plays a large role in you conceiving but there are other things you can do to try and help speed up the process. .

Calculating ovulation accurately is one of the most important things so i would recommend you get a good ovulation kit.

Taking supplements daily and eating the right foods is also very important, this isnt just important for you but for your partner too.

Taking Zinc supplements and also eating foods that are rich in zinc will help increase your chances of conceiving. Zinc is necessary for your body to 'attract and hold' the reproductive hormones, progesterone & oestrogen.

Drinking alcohol can reduce your fertility by as much as half. One recent study showed that women who drank less than 5 units of alcohol a week were twice as likely to get pregnant within six months compared with those who drank more. Studies have also showed that alcohol causes a dramatic decrease in sperm count.

Stop smoking - Smoking has been linked to female infertility and it also decreases sperm in men.

Cut down on caffeine, studies have shown that caffeine, especially coffee & coke can dramatically reduce fertility. Just one cup of strong coffee a day can reduce your chances of falling pregnant by as much as half.

Essential fatty acids are vital for healthy hormone functioning. For men essential fatty acid supplementation is crucial because semen is very rich in prostaglandins which are produced from these fats.

Limit movement after intercourse, sperm can easily leak out when you stand up so try and stay laying flat for at least a couple of hours afterwards.

Ensure your partner doesn't masturbate prior to the days you are trying to conceive, this will help to increase his sperm count and improve your chances of falling pregnant.

Try to relax as much as possible and not think about getting pregant as this can put stress on the body

If you have been trying to conceive for 12 months or more and you are relatively healthy i would advise you to see your gp so they can check there is nothing wrong with either you or your partner.
